The Afrikaners names for the succulents are quite funny. I am fascinated by succulents and have two little succulent terraria. I live in New York City where you won't see succulents in the wild, but at the botanic gardens.

Thank you very much for your comments Astrid.
Many people in South Africa still don't have high speed connections (ADSL, etc.). It's for these people that we keep the pictures small. You are always welcome to visit yourself of course and make as many pictures as you want. See also our general website http://soekershof.com for precise road directions, times, etc.

I have used labyrinths in healing workshops and well, what can I say: Soekershof is a really interesting (set of ) sites.

I'm not sure what I'm going to do with all this information, but I know your site will somehow get into the picture.

I have a 'We Are One World' Healing initiative on our blog, and we have participants from Sth Africa as well as from anywhere else in the world.

Mmm.... perhaps an article can integrate all of it. I'll have to roam some more on your blog....

Fascinating! To me, in cold damp England, the cactus and the land seem strange and alien. Will the barrels stay there for a long time? Do you have to water them? Do many people use the labyrinth? How do they regard it? What do you mean by 'Classical'?

Hi Linda,
There are numerous labyrinths in South Africa but most South African people are not aware of them, neither do they know how to walk a labyrinth. So called 'labyrinth experts' in South Africa don't always know the difference between a maze and a labyrinth; let alone the different types of mazes. Don't blame them for they did not grow up in a maze- and labyrinth rich culture as you in the UK.
Most of our visitors are there for the Klaas Voogds Maze (13,870 sqm net surface) with visualised local folklore and the gardens. Since recently also our land art objects (labyrinth is one of these) are attracting attention; merely from USA, Germany and UK.
